Set up a hallway with unusual wooden lamps
Even before the lockdown began, we walked through dozens of furniture stores and got inspired. They quickly agreed on the new furnishing style, which resembles the country house style due to the idyllic location. It was important to us that the overall look was right and that the facade of the house also harmonized with the interior. Because of this, we chose light natural tones such as cream, white and gray for the interior. They harmonize wonderfully with each other and can be easily combined with wood, linen, raffia or cotton.
We have planned a chic country house-style wall unit for the living room, which will be decorated with vintage pieces from the flea market. The dining room is similarly rustic. The choice fell on a large tree edge table made of solid oak wood with white elements.
Tables made from tree slices have high-quality surfaces that are easy to clean. They also look incredibly attractive and can be easily combined with the country house style. A suitable buffet cabinet should create additional storage space.
Why country house style? Natural materials such as wood and rattan appeal to us and convey naturalness. In the future, we will live between fragrant orchards, shady forests and sparkling lakes and would like to reflect this life in the interior of our own home.
The natural colors also unconsciously ensure that we immediately feel comfortable and secure.
Set up the hallway - 3 big no-gos in the hallway
Yesterday we received the long-awaited call from the real estate agent "...the key handover will take place on February 27th..."
Wow, the news immediately made our hearts pound and put a smile on our faces in no time. The majority of our belongings have long been packed in boxes and are waiting for the new beginning to come. We have already mentally furnished some of the rooms. However, we have different opinions when it comes to furnishing the hallway, not least because we want to avoid typical hallway furnishing mistakes. After all, the hallway is the business card of the apartment/house and the first room that visitors enter.

Furniture that is too bulky
When arranging the hallway, we should keep in mind which and how many of our things we want to pack where. Depending on the size of the hallway and the storage space required, a wide variety of furniture can be used. Coat rack or hooks, free-standing clothes racks, wardrobe system with matching individual furniture or a complete hallway wardrobe with mirror. Narrow furniture, such as sideboards and shelves, do not protrude too far into the room. Niches and small corners can also be used sensibly. Wall shelves, roll containers or built-in shelves can be used here.
Overestimating or underestimating decoration
Either we place too much value on decoration or too little. A healthy mediocrity is the right thing here. Unnecessary decorative objects take up valuable storage space, are extremely impractical and clutter up the hallway. But that doesn't mean that you should completely forego decoration. With candles, pictures and soft carpets you can easily create cosiness and decorate the connecting room in an inviting way.
It's too dark
The hallway has a crucial disadvantage compared to other rooms: it usually has to do without windows. Hardly anything makes a room appear smaller and darker than a lack of light. Therefore, you should definitely not skimp on lighting, especially in the hallway. In addition to a wall or ceiling light, a small floor lamp also looks good on the sideboard.
Extraordinary table root lamp made of real teak
We can't complain about a hallway that's too small or narrow. Our home has a large entrance area that also has a huge window.
A small handmade floor lamp made from a piece of natural teak wood will also be a special eye-catcher in the future. The lamp impresses with its unique materials and sophisticated workmanship and is therefore a special highlight.

The wood of the Root Lamp comes exclusively from forestry plantations in Central Java Indonesia. These plantations were founded during the Dutch colonial period in Indonesia to grow teak for shipbuilding. When the plantations reached maturity and the trees were felled, open spaces were created that were mostly fallow because the large rootstocks in the ground meant that agricultural use was not possible. Over time, these rootstocks were dug up by farmers to make the areas usable for agriculture.
From what was once just a fixed idea, a wonderful Wurzel furniture collection was created.
Due to the unique look of the “Zoila” designer table lamp with a root wood base, we decided to integrate it into the entrance area so that it is clearly visible. The base body consists of naturally grown teak root wood. The appearance and shape of this driftwood root varies and makes it something very special. We love the classic and timeless design, which is why there couldn't be a better place for it than the business card of an apartment/house.
Until the extraordinary wooden lamp can take its permanent place and become both an eye-catcher and a modern accessory for our home, it brightens up our dark hallway in the apartment.
