Having a beautiful home is very important to me. I like to feel comfortable, but also that other people come in and say "Oh, that's great!". That's why I like unique and unusual products that not everyone has. We build a lot of things ourselves because there are so many great ideas on the internet. Anyone who knows me knows how much I like wood and we also make a lot of things out of wood.
It's always really cozy with the right light. Candles are always there because they give off a warm light and simply express a feeling of coziness. Especially now with my 2 new kittens, I'm avoiding candles because they're both still very wild and just learning.
We have beautiful ceiling lights everywhere and of course small lights for the desk and a spot for when I'm doing crafts. In order to get a smaller light that makes the room a little brighter but doesn't completely illuminate it, I decided on a table lamp. If you look for wooden lights on the internet, you will find many beautiful ones, but for me they were usually too boring and too simple. Until I ended up at Exotic Life!
Exotic Life offers furniture, products and Root lamps around the home. Many of the pieces of furniture look quite similar, although the grain of wood is always slightly different...but if you take products that are made from a whole piece of wood, then you automatically have a unique piece. Every piece of wood is simply different...the grain, the color and how the wood was grown.
I found the right one for us among driftwood table lamps....Zoila! The driftwood comes from teak root wood and it is always certified wood. Exotic Life only uses wood from sustainable cultivation and offers a FLEGT wood certificate. The table lamps are always made from one piece of wood and as little as possible is done to it.
The lamp arrived here in 2 boxes. In the larger box was the root wood base with the electronics and in the second box was the lampshade. The umbrella was covered with a protective film and safely packed in a bag. The piece of root wood was so well padded that damage was unlikely to occur.
I was immediately excited. I saw a picture in the shop, but I knew that my lamp would look a little different. The principle is the same...a curved piece of wood that has a slight wood branch, but it is still very different. Rustic, natural and still very elegant.
The nobleness is enhanced by certain subtleties. At the bottom of the piece of wood is a simple, silver plaque with the company name. The cable is only visible at the back, otherwise it is completely hidden in the wood.You can place the table lamp freely on a table and view it from any side, without an annoying cable attached to the back.
To top it off, the lampshade is covered with a textile material in terracotta. To attach it to the root wood base, you unscrew the "nut" from the socket, put the lampshade over it and screw the "nut" back on. Just plug in the lamp and you can turn it on and enjoy the beautiful light.
Because the base is nice and wide, the table lamp is completely stable. Nothing wobbles and even my kittens will have a hard time tipping it over. Our living room is divided into 2 parts. On one side is the couch and opposite is the TV and music system and on the other side is my desk, the dining table and my photo corner. There is a ceiling light on each side, but we rarely have the one above the couch on.
It's particularly annoying when watching TV because the light is reflected and I also find it too bright. So we always have the ceiling light above the dining table on. But if you want it to be really cozy and cuddly, then it is too bright. With the Zoila table lamp we have now completely solved this and are thrilled with the light.
There are tall speakers to the right and left of the television. We wanted to put the table lamp on it and get a warm light behind the television. Schatzi had the speakers repainted to fit into the living room and he takes great care of it. So I first stuck felt pads under the lamp to protect the boxes.
The table lamp is 65 cm high and has a diameter (including lampshade) of 35 cm. The warm light is thrown slightly wider downwards and narrower upwards. The whole room is subtly lit, but in no way too bright or too much. Really perfect for a nice ambience.
We are so excited about the table lamp that we are already thinking about buying a second Burl wood lamp for the other box. They will fit together but still be totally individual.
